School shootings and violence happen all too often. Natural or man-made disasters can not be predicted. Serious, life-threatening, emergency medical situations occur when we least expect them. Most schools are not prepared for a medical emergency and are under funded. The Kit to Classroom program was developed as a means to involve the community to help our schools be safer, more prepared for an emergency.
You can help by placing a specially designed first aid kit in your loved ones classroom!
If there is a threat or emergency -each classroom in a school is locked down-that means no one in or out. Most schools only have a first aid kit in the office. What if there are injured children in one or several classrooms? Without immediate access to emergency medical supplies...lives could be lost.
The only way for a school to respond to multiple injured people is to have the right medical supplies distributed throughout the school. In a disaster it could be hours before an ambulance could respond. With a serious bleed- minutes could make the difference between life and death!
